Get Home Safely After Dead on the Vine Using Wave Riders
08/02/2023

Dead on the Vine returns to Chatham Vineyards on Church Creek on Saturday, Aug. 5. Arrange your ride to and from the best summer party on the Shore with Wave Riders.

Cape Charles native Jaheim Fisher started the Eastern Shore transportation service in 2021. The services includes food, grocery, prescription and alcohol delivery, airport transportation and taxi service that can be booked in advanced.

“I started Wave Riders to lend a helping hand,” Fisher said. “People need that on the Eastern Shore. We can always help when you don’t have anyone else to call.”

Fisher and his team of drivers will offer taxi service during Dead on the Vine, the annual concert that combines great wine, food and music from the Grateful Dead Tribute Band Last Fair Deal.

Schedule your ride to the 5 p.m., event and back by logging onto the website at mywaveriders.com. Or if you just need a ride back, arrange that through Wave Riders, too. It’s far better to be safe if you plan to drink any alcohol at Dead on the Vine than have regrets afterward.

Rides can only be booked online only at the website (there is no app yet). Click on the “book ride” section to schedule your ride and fill in the accompanying form. A link will be sent to your phone via text where you can complete payment to officially book your ride. If the fee for the ride does not meet your satisfaction, do not pay and your ride will be canceled after 15 minutes. Multiple forms of payment are accepted, including Visa, Discover, Apple Pay, MasterCard, American Express and Cash App. Cash is only accepted for tips.

If you have not scheduled your ride in advance, you can still get a ride home after Dead on the Vine. Your wait time might be longer, but Fisher and his team are committed to getting everyone who needs a ride home safely.

If you’ve scheduled a ride, look for Wave Riders drivers holding up signs with the company name and your name.

Wave Riders, headquartered in Belle Haven, serves Northampton and Accomack counties and extends as far north as Oak Hall and as far west as Hampton. Wave Riders is a member of the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

If you are at Dead on the Vine and want to arrange a ride with Wave Riders but have problems with your cell service, call 757-331-0740.

Once you’re home after Dead on the Vine and realize the next morning you forgot to buy your favorite bottle of Chatham wine, don’t hesitate to use Wave Riders’ alcohol delivery service. Or if you’re planning a trip and don’t want to pay for airport parking, Wave Riders will take you to Norfolk International Airport and pick you up when you return.

Wave Riders operates Mondays-Thursdays 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-midnight; and Sundays, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Hours will be extended if necessary the night of Dead on the Vine.
