Chatham Kicks off Summer-long Crush Pad Live Music Series on April 13
04/12/2024

Chatham Vineyards is giving fans yet another reason to visit the Eastern Shore on select weekends this spring and summer.

Vintners Jon and Mills Wehner are pleased to announce the Crush Pad Music Series, featuring musical acts scheduled to perform the second Sunday of each month through October.

Fans know that great wines are made on the crush pad at Chatham, and that very spot has played host to the legendary Dead on the Vine concert held once a summer for the past 15 years. With the Crush Pad Music Series, visitors can enjoy live music as part of the Chatham experience even more often.

Concerts will include performances by Grateful Dead cover band virtuosos Patrick Higgins (Last Fair Deal) and Dave Moore (Grateful Jed), as well as Mike Proffitt, an accomplished acoustic singer/songwriter who has shared the stage with the likes of REO Speedwagon and Kenny Loggins.

Bluegrass aficionados will enjoy a June performance by The Steel Pennies, a four-piece band that pays homage to music with Appalachian roots. In August, visitors will be treated to a fusion of bluesy jazz, sultry rock, and heartfelt country melodies from Melinda and the Speakeasies.

All Crush Pad Music Series performances are weather permitting, starting at 2pm and typically lasting until 4pm. No reservations or tickets are required, except for Dead on the Vine in August.

Bring your picnic, chairs and blankets and enjoy the music from the ample green space surrounding the crush pad. Bread and cheese will be available for purchase to pair with a glass or bottle of your favorite Chatham wine. Please, no outside alcohol.

The series kicks off during the last Winter Wine & Oysters Weekend of the season, with a performance on Saturday, April 13 at 2pm by Loaded Goat, an Eastern Shore band playing eclectic acoustic stomp and groove tunes. Mike Proffitt takes to the pad at 2pm on Sunday, April 14. Enjoy a half dozen Seaside and Bayside Eastern Shore oysters with a glass of Chatham Wine for $18.00 on both days.
